#hikelife 2018

In 2017, I started the #hikelife chronicles, posting my favorite hiking photos of the year. In 2018, I inadvertently completed the #52hikechallenge from my normal wanderlust. Hiked 57 times, covering four states (Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii) and three national parks (Pinnacles, Rainer, Olympic). I took 3x more hiking photos in 2018 than any year in the past (mostly because I love my Moment wide angle lens). Ergo it took 3x longer to compile this post since there was so much editing/exporting to do, but the discipline is worth it if only to rehash the memories.

Each hike is special in its own way, but my favorite 2018 treks had to be Koloa Gulch, Klahhane Ridge, and Sahalie Falls. An honorable mention goes to the grueling Waianae Water Walls hike where overgrowth and a few missed markers led to me blindly navigating our crew through half a mile of 7-foot tall grass without a trail in sight! Getting a little lost always gets the blood pumping! For 2019 I'm looking forward to chasing Oregon's best waterfalls, checking off Poamoho, and exploring more internationally!
